California Season for Dungeness Crab Begins

The long-delayed commercial season for California Dungeness crab has begun. Saturday, March 26th marked the date when the season officially opened. After 10 long weeks, live Dungeness crab was unloaded off the docks in Northern California. Domoic acid was the reason behind the delay but the California Department of Public Health gave the crabs a clean bill of health. The demand for California Dungeness crab has remained high and fish markets throughout California are filling their tanks. Dungeness crab can be purchased in live or cooked form at your nearby grocery store and fish market.
